The Amazon

The Amazon is a species of bird known to pet owners by predominant green color, typical parrot shape, bright and sweet personality, and diversity in color combinations. The Amazon green have blue napes and brows, black bills, yellow faces and throats, and possibly rarer lilac and orange colorations. White faces, eye rim colorings, and blooming color on the face around the bill make exotic types and mutations for this bird.

The residents of the Caribbean know the Amazon green parrot and the “New World” habitation furnishes many opportunities for Amazon green sightings. These birds are seen on the beaches of South America, in the wildlands of Puerto Rico, and in the tropical and subtropical wood forestations of North America. Amazons have a heavy sleep cycle, and they need rest for the energy to put their best zytodactyl claw forward.

Pet Amazon green parrots need baths like everybody else. Use a sink or bowl with a perchable rim that is large enough for comfortable movement. Allow (not overwhelming) running water to pour in a stream and let the Amazon green parrot find its own bath rhythm. Use medium tepid water and only medium/cool blow dry heat settings. Make sure lighting and cage placement don’t interrupt or stimulate unnatural exaggerations or interruptions of hormonal changes or sleep cycles.
Amazon parrots like to talk and can be coached into clever speech. These parrots are inquisitive, alert, and responsive. Light, color, and noise make up their radar blips. Governed stimuli, proper feeding, and adequate companionship pay benefits richly for Amazon Green owners. Feather texture should maintain gloss and circulation benefits, parrots will trail tail feathers into the water. Temperature changes must be regulated and not drastic. Drying edges and separating wing feather ends should be diagnosed by a veterinarian.

A mature Amazon green parrot will be ten to sixteen inches. A stocky build gives strength and energy. Healthy feather growth covers Amazon green’s under feather skin and keeps its moist and from being exposed to bacteria and airborne viruses. Spray mist dousing lightly through the metal cage wires can keep the bird cool and fresh. Waste removal should cycle after feeding and possibly during bathing for best efficiency and keeping a clean cage.

What kind of bird cage does the Amazon parrot prefer? Amazon parrots should have “ambling” space and variable perch choices inside their protected environment. Amazons are intelligent and suffer when bored and prone to screeching and feather plucking. A little interior decoration goes a long way. Introduce bright colors and toy objects for chewing or manipulating when changing out the cage liner. Challenge the natural intelligence of the bird with new shapes and colors. Log bits and twigs can make for some excellent “forage” targets. Amazons are built to face a new environment every day, pet owners should attempt to match this.

Some of the most popular types of Amazon parrot pets include Amazon Green parrots, Blue Front Amazons, Amazon Grey Parrots, Yellow Nape Amazons, Yellow Crowned Amazons, Double Yellow Head Amazons, Red-Lored Amazons, Orange Wing Amazons, Amazon Blue Parrots, and Blue-Fronted Amazons.
